Jonathan Quito Food Bank

In an effort to guarantee food and nutrition services for our beneficiaries, Jonathan Foundation will open Jonathan Food Bank in Quito in 2024.

This solidarity initiative is dedicated to collecting, storing, and distributing food to people in vulnerable situations, including children with disabilities and older adults.

The JQFB (Jonathan Quito Food Bank, BAJQ in spanish) is an entity that receives collection points and distributors. It was established to guarantee the preparation and provision of food, maintain a consistent service to the community, and generate its sustainability.

Through partnerships with businesses, supermarkets, and individual donors, we seek to reduce food waste, combat chronic childhood malnutrition, and guarantee nutrition and food security in Quito and its surrounding areas.

Our purpose

Expand efforts to fight hunger and provide nutritious food for a healthy and dignified life for our clients. Primarily, to reduce malnutrition among children and the elderly.

Fifty percent of the population lacks access to food with adequate nutritional intake. Thanks to food donations, we can provide a simple meal that can change lives.

Preventing food waste is also our goal. Every day in Quito, 400 tons of food are wasted, equivalent to more than 137,000 meals—almost the same number of food servings the Foundation delivers each year.

Jonathan Quito Food Bank needs rice, sugar, oil, noodles, protein, milk, tuna, sardines, powdered milk, vegetables, legumes, and other products every day to prepare meals and food and hygiene kits.

We can receive your donation at our facilities or pick it up from your home.
